What is trackback?

A trackback belongs in the blog section. The trackback sends a message when another page links to an article in the blog. The author is notified, so to speak, when the content has been linked or mentioned.

What does trackback mean for SEO?

Trackbacks are helpful for link building in the area of SEO, as long as they are high-quality links. There must be a recognizable thematic connection between the linked page and the article. Only trackbacks that are helpful to the user are relevant and important. Inferior trackbacks could be classified as spam. It makes sense to remove the link in order to avoid negative effects in terms of positioning. For this reason, NoFollow attributes are usually used automatically so that these links are directly worthless.

For website operators, however, NoFollow trackbacks are still helpful. After all, they can help to increase traffic. However, if the newly acquired users bounce again immediately because it simply does not fit the topic at all, there will be a high bounce rate. This has a negative effect. For SEOs and webmasters, it therefore means always keeping an eye on trackbacks in order to really benefit and perform better on Google.
