What is Google Bombing?

The term Google Bombing is an attempt to improve the ranking of websites. This involves linking to selected keywords. However, the keywords do not even have to be related to the website. Google bombing is one of the manipulation attempts and can contribute to a devaluation of the website if detected. This variant is also known as link bombing and keyword spam.

What does Google Bombing mean for SEO?

Google bombing is an important topic in the field of search engine optimization. Numerous links are no longer necessary for a good ranking in the search results lists. It is much more important for Google that links to the web content are relevant. High-quality links that are related to a website are welcomed. With the Google Bombing manipulation variant, however, there is not necessarily a relationship between the links and the web content.

If Google detects attempts at manipulation or classifies links as spam, the page will lose positions in the search results lists. It is even conceivable that the page will be completely removed from the index. However, it can also happen that Google bombs are not recognized as such by the search engine operator. In these cases, a website can actually benefit from a better ranking through this variant.
