What is DoFollow?

DoFollow is the instruction for the search engine to follow a specific link. Crawlers know that they should visit the link. However, this attribute is not necessary. Crawlers automatically visit existing links if this is not prevented with the NoFollow attribute. High-quality links are important for link building in the area of search engine optimization, as this is how page rank and link juice are passed on.

What does DoFollow mean for SEO?

Backlinks with a DoFollow attribute are necessary for ranking in the search results list. If these links are followed, the pages are gradually crawled and indexed. However, the number of backlinks is now not the decisive factor. Instead, quality links are necessary. If there is a low-quality backlink, this can also have a negative effect on the ranking. If the link comes from a page that is not classified as trustworthy, you can expect a downgraded rating.

SEOs have the task of making the website more successful through link building and other measures. Through the targeted use of DoFollow and NoFollow attributes, it is possible to exert influence and thus cleverly direct which pages should be crawled and which pages should not be visited. If a website is still under construction or duplicate content is present, crawling is simply avoided with NoFollow. If everything is satisfactory, crawling is allowed with DoFollow or no attribute.
